Clearfield County Legislators Announce Infrastructure Improvement Grants
CLEARFIELD - Brady, Huston and Penn townships are receiving grants through the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, according to state Reps. Matt Gabler (R-DuBois) and Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield).

“These are competitive grants that are generated by the fund, which supports improving locally-owned infrastructure,” said Gabler. “Our local municipalities are competing against project proposals across the state to bring these resources to our area."

Brady Township will receive more than $330,000 to replace the Haag Road Bridge over Stump Creek, Huston Township is being awarded $450,000 for roadway and pedestrian infrastructure improvements on Mountain Run Road, and Penn Township’s more than $272,000 grant will be used to make improvements to the bridge over Bell Run.

“Anyone who has ever applied for a grant knows the process is not an easy one to complete,” Sankey said. “We congratulate the officials in these municipalities whose hard work has paid off.”

The grant applications are evaluated by PennDOT and awards are based on criteria such as safety benefits, regional economic conditions, the technical and financial feasibility, job creation, energy efficiency, and operational sustainability.

Questions about this or any legislative issue can be directed to the Clearfield office shared by Gabler and Sankey at 315 East Market St.
